Italian term or phrase: codice figlio

I'm translating a document on the procedures involved in the development of a new cosmetic product. I'm not sure how to say "codice padre" and "codice figlio". I think "codice padre" refers to the finished product, while "codice figlio" refers to the ingredients that make up the product. I might use master code or even product code for "codice padre", but I've no idea what to use for "codice figlio". Any help appreciated. Thanks. Juliet
