I think given the context something along these lines might be the ticket.
Lots of refs for "rhinogenic hearing loss/deafness" but many of them are translated Italian spa websites.
From what I understand, rhinogenic hearing loss is caused by catarrhal otitis media - or chronic middle ear infection.
