a girl says "he's the cutest guy della terza B"; si parla della terza media, sezione B.

How would say that in English?

Cheers!

Explanation:
Or if in the context they are already talking about different classes 2C, 3A and so on, then "in 3B".

I started at age eleven in the first year in 1A. Unfortunately there were no girls in 1A, nor in 1B nor even in 1C because it was an all boys school. At the end of the year I went up into class 2B in the second year.

Doesn't matter if the girl is in a different class or even if she doesn't go the school.

Notes to answerer
Asker: yes, we have to assume the girl is in another class; so, can you actually just say "in 3B"?

agree  Ivana UK: I'd keep it as 3B since we're talking about the Italian education system - I'd say 3B as she's saying he's the cutest boy in that specific class rather than in the whole of third year

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_Nine
In England Year Nine is the ninth year after Reception. It is the ninth full year of compulsory education, with children being admitted who are aged 13 by the 1st September in any given academic year.[4] It is also the year in which pupils are formally assessed against National Curriculum levels.[5] With effect from 2009, National Curriculum Tests are no longer compulsory in this year group.[6]

Year Nine is usually the third year of Secondary school. Year 9 pupils tend to be aged between 13–14 years old.
