Italian term or phrase: billotti

La macchina presenta una griglia mobile di tipo orizzontale composta da billotti in acciaio al Cr.

macchina = a machine that produces hot water in relation to a heating system

Chormium steel ...?

Another term that doesn't seem to appear in any standard or technical dictionary.
Any help much appreciated.

Explanation:
just because it sounds similar and steel does come in billet form. But this may just be a way to say rods. That's certainly their shape-
