Italian to English translations [PRO]
Science - Engineering (general) / Fall arrest systems, lifelines
Italian term or phrase: ammotenditore
L'ammotenditore è un dissipatore di energia che svolge una triplice funzione:
1 – Come un ammortizzatore, previsto per ogni Sistemi Anticaduta in commercio che prevede ancoraggi indeformabili, serve ad attutire l’urto e dissipare l’energia sprigionata in caso di caduta;
2 – Come un tenditore regola la tensione del cavo;
3 – Come un dinamometro rileva ed indica in tempo reale la tensione che corre nel cavo relativamente ai riferimenti principali, agevolando l’esecuzione del collaudo di trazione statica a 5kN previsto dalla normativa UNI EN 795:2002.

Ammortizzatore in this context seems to be energy absorber and tenditore is tensioner. I can't find a device that incorporates both plus a dynamometer. Any ideas?

Hi Juliet,
There is a big difference, technically with damping and dampening

Notes to answerer
Asker: Hi Cedric, even though your translation sounds right, I tried putting dampening tensioner in google, but got no results. I ended up calling it an absorber-tensioner. A bit of a mouthful I know! Thanks anyway for your help.
