| Grading comment thanks Tom, you got me thinking on the right track and so I found this document, where it calls it "field bending" - Field Bending – Field bending is an on-shore pipeline practice where a pipe bending machine
is used at the pipe laying site to allow the laid pipe to fit the local configuration. (which is precisely what it was in my context
