That's right, it refers to an Italian Coldiretti's campaign. However, you may translate it “zero food mile”: "Food miles, the distance food travels from field to plate, is a way of indicating the environmental impact of the food we eat."

agree  Barbara Carrara: Absolutely. The 'food mile' concept was born in the UK (Prof Tim Lang, in case you wished to google it). Coldiretti simply translated the miles into kilometres. Cheers, Barbara

il concetto di km 0 si riferisce al fatto che il bene è prodotto localmente
è spesso collegato al concetto di "filiera corta" (dal produttore al consumatore, come dice Lionel nei commenti), ma i due concetti non coincidono
km 0 si riferisce a "quanto vicino" avviene la produzione (es. ciliegie coltivate dal contadino vicino a casa mia...), mentre filiera corta si riferisce agli intermediari che (non ) ci sono tra chi produce e chi compra (es. se io compro quelle ciliegie direttamente dal mio contadino, ho km 0 + filiera corta, mentre se il contadino le vende a un distributore, che a sua volta le vende al negozio di alimentari del mio paese, magari ho ancora (?) il km 0, ma non ho + la filiera corta perché le ciliegie sono passate per altri 2 intermediari)

non mi venivano in mente esempi migliori... spero di essere stata... chiara :-)

per la traduzione lascio ai madrelingua, anche se mi orienterei su zero-mile / locally produced...
