I keep getting Process Engineer for chemical plants when searching for incineration engineer in a chemical plant, which is the term preceding in your phrase ... Id be inclined to think your own answer is somewhat correct, in that in Italy, a bruciatorista is normally the guy who checks that the gas heating/gas jet apparatus on your hot water heater is working properly.
