Italian to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Finance (general) /
Italian term or phrase: intermediari
I have a few ideas, but am uncertain of the best term to fit the situation. The term "intermediari" (or intermediari finanziari) appears quite often and with same context.
TIA

agree  fbbest: I think , here, they are refering to people/experts and not institutions therfore I agree with '(financial) brokers' as in Codeluppi dizionario di economia, finanza e borsa

neutral  James (Jim) Davis: In any other language outside Brussels, this is a bank. Only a company with a banking license can "collect deposits from the general public".

Intermediari Finanziari iscritti nell’«Elenco Speciale»
non bank financial companies

Explanation:
As wiki accurately describes them these particular financial entities are all finance comanies which do not have a banking license. The can't take deposits from the public.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-banking_financial_company
They include leasing and factoring companies, investment funds, mortgage brokers etc.
The lazy translation which is even used in Brussels is "intermediary" The reference in this context is to Article 106 in Title 6 of the TUB. Title II deals with banks.

The bank of Italy provides details of precisely who they are:

-> Well there is a VERY strong argument, and that is the European Union, which uses the blanket translation of "intermediaries" for banks lease companies, factoring companies, asset management companies, etc.
