Italian term or phrase: il finale del baldacchino
From a (very airy and slighly loopy) description of high-end, faux-Louis Quatorze furniture, there's this w/regard to a canopy bed:

"Dettaglio di lusso ... il finale del baldacchino è realizzato in puro cristallo ed è applicato su ottone a bagno oro."

I can't figure out what they're talking about -- what part of the bed canopy or frame would be in crystal and applied on brass? Or am I missing something?

It could be a crystal beaded tassel but I think crystal pendant is more what you are looking for.

So maybe they are just knobs? That would account for the crystal on brass.

Thanks, Shera - you got me going in the right direction (and yes: pictures would help a lot; unfortunately, I can't get them). I'm 99% convinced that what they mean is "finial." How that became "finale" in Italian I couldn't say.
