General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters / Conference program
Italian term or phrase: Apertura dei lavori
It's a standard program - "Welcome, Registration, Opening Rmearks,...." It's not clear if it's a conference or workshop and it's a single-session event so I can't use any of these terms - conference or workshops or session - I'm looking for a very general term / expression. Please specify GB/US English. Thanks in advance if you can find urls that have examples so I can check the context, it's a formal event, EU-related. Thanks!

Opening of proceedings
Explanation:
I don't mean this in a legal context but as a term to describe the start of conferences, workshops etc. For an example, see this site
http://www.ieba.org.uk/event_attach/CONFERENCE%20INVITATION....

Opening of the event

Explanation:
How about simply "Opening of the event" to keep it very generic.
