Italian term or phrase: darsele di santa ragione
it's a story for kids, a game that simulates two gangs that "se le danno di santa ragione"; what's a less vulgar way to say "kick the crap out of..."?

Thanks!

beat the living daylights out of...

Explanation:
You can have "beat/knock/kick" the living daylights out of each other.

Apparently the phrase came back into fashion when the James Bond film "Living Daylights" came out!

Example sentence(s):
  • She's the only reason Kiki and I didn't beat the living daylights out of him.
  • The players don't wear helmets or padding; they just beat the living daylights out of each other and then go for a beer.
