Italian to English translations [PRO] Geography | | Italian term or phrase: cordoni (sabbiosi) dunali | | Here, the text is describing dune formation in the Ombrone River Delta in the Maremma. I'd be tempted to use "coastal dunes," but I'm not clear whether zones that form in a river delta (and thus, as a result of sedimentation and changes in the river) can properly be called "coastal." I'm wondering if there's some specific geomorphological term for this or whether I should translated literally. Thanks. |

4 mins confidence: | (sand) dune ridges
Explanation: It's widely used
| | | Notes to answerer
Asker: It may be widely used, but they're not talking about ridges; they're talking about the "belt" of dunes that form along the river in the delta area. The ridges would be a specific feature of the dunes, but not the expanse of dune formations as a whole.
