Italian term or phrase: REGIONE PUGLIA
You all agree that I should not translate the other 2 sentences, as they are Dpts of government agencies which may not exist in English and with proper names, so as such the shouldn´t be translated. However, this all appears together on the letterhead of several documents, one a Deed of Commitment for buidilng a PV System and the other a "convenzione". Should I translate this and write Region of Puglia but with the rest in Italian, as below, or leave it ALL in Italian. Suggestions much appreciated thanks

REGIONE PUGLIA
Area Politiche per lo Sviluppo, il Lavoro e l'innovazione
Servizio Reti e Infrastrutture Materiali per lo Sviluppo
Beatriz Candil Garcia
Local time: 12:09
Puglia Region
Explanation:
It is normal to translate the names of regions, including the region itself where there is an equivalent in the target language (e.g. Lombardy Region). As regards what appears below this, I would suggest translating everything as the readers of the translation will be more interested in what they are rather than their original names in Italian.

agree  writeaway: surely this is quickly and easily found by a glance on the www?

neutral  Barbara Carrara: Based on what you've written, then this should be Apulia. Also, wouldn't 'Regional Authority' be a bit more self-explanatory (http://www.europarl.europa.eu/sides/getDoc.do?pubRef=-//EP//...

agree  darwilliam: like you guys have said, both are used but sometimes there is no English equivalent to the Italian/Latin hence it's just the way it is.

why don't you leave it so as it is and add a translation [in brackets]?

Reference information:
The normal way is to have both versions,
either one in ROUND brackets (in this case EN)
or both - in between /- , if you find a very good correspondence/translation
