Italian to English translations [PRO]
Art/Literary - History / Essay on Italy of Dante the poet | | Italian term or phrase: imprese di conquista | I understand what this term is saying but cannot find a good equivalent that sounds natural and collocates well:
The whole sentence reads:
"I potenti Guelfi sono infatti la lobby dei banchieri che finanziano le costosissime guerre e le IMPRESE DI CONQUISTA del Papa e dei suoi alleati. Per loro, mantenere Firenze nell’orbita del potere papale significa conservare enormi privilegi di ordine politico ed economico."
My attempt reads:
"The mighty Guelfs were in fact a group of bankers that financed the hugely expensive war, and the CONQUERING ENTERPRISES of the pope and his allies..." |
