Italian to English translations [PRO]
Art/Literary - History / Essay on times of Dante | | Italian term or phrase: implicitamente toccato opponendosi ai ... | This is an essay on the life of Dante and the events in Italy that he came into contact with.
This sentence is clear to me but I am not sure how to express the exact meaning of the phrase above and how to incorporate it into the text. The phrase comes from the sentence:
"Tutto il potere dei Guelfi, tutta la loro arroganza e capacità di prevaricazione si mettono al lavoro per tutelare gli interessi di classe che Dante ha implicitamente toccato opponendosi ai progetti dei Bardi e dei Portinari. "
My attempt at this phrase, which I know is slightly incorrect was:
"...was put to work to protect the interests of the class that Dante had *** implicitly handled, as he had opposed the projects of the Bardi and Portinari families."*** |

If this is referring to his works, then I would say something along the lines of "...were put to work to protect the class interests touched upon/addressed implicitly by Dante in his opposition to..."
If it's referring to his political involvement, then I would say "in which Dante was implicitly involved through his opposition to..." |
