Io per "parente o affine con lui convivente" metterei semplicemente "parente o altra persona con lui convivente". pcjohnz: 3:40pm Nov 9, 2006: what you suggest makes sense but this would mean a roommate is also covered by the policy (a company policy on behalf or workers) beatbeat: 3:42pm Nov 9, 2006: Scusa, ho verificato, a livello giuridico è come propone sotto silvia b.: parente acquisito di un coniuge rispetto all’altro coniuge, ad es. il cognato o il suocero; estens., parente. Non lo sapevo.

| | relative by marriage | Explanation: Hi Paul,
The difference between "parente" and "Affine" is that a "parente" is someone you are directly related to whereas an "affine" is someone you are related to by marriage.

This is the De Mauro definition:
dir., parente acquisito di un coniuge rispetto all’altro coniuge, ad es. il cognato o il suocero; estens., parente

Paul - I've just learned something new - "affine" also exists in English:
affine
A noun
1 affine

Explanation: affinita': parentela tra un coniuge e i consanguinei dell'altro (Devoto-Oli)

esattamente, Paul:
consanguinei vs. affini/parenti acquisiti
nel linguaggio comune per parenti si intendono anche i "parenti acquisiti", ma in un'assicurazione e' necessario che non ci sia ambiguita'.
