From my experience, the stories are usually read by the library staff themselves. I wouldn't describe them as professional "storytellers", as they're just librarians who do this one or two mornings a week. Most libraries in the UK offer this. It's called Noisy Fridays at our library, because we do singing too ;-)
To my mind, a "storyteller" makes up the story himself or tells it without reading it from a book.

Right, I guess it depends on who is doing the storytelling or story reading. If it's a professional (which is what I guessed, since it was an organized event), then I'd pick "storytelling." If it's an informal event, perhaps with volunteers doing the reading, then reading to children might be better.

I think 'storytellers' are generally more like entertainers. On the other hand I guess you can have more or less entertaining "story readers", so...

Penso che "story telling" sia perfetto. "Telling" racchiude già "ad alta voce".
