Italian term or phrase: cantare fuori dal coro
Oggetti (d'arte, ndr) che sanno cantare fuori dal coro, capaci di lasciare un segno indelebile nell'immaginario collettivo.

Potrebbe essere "that can be out of line" oppure "that can be against mainstream"?

Away from the mainstream

Explanation:
If you want to use the term "mainstream", "away from "is the correct prepositional phrase to use.

Example sentence(s):
  • "... promotion of 'outsider' art and artists, the two exhibitions he is now presenting are a million miles AWAY FROM either MAINSTREAM or sound-bite art."
  • "...but he was creating art AWAY FROM THE MAINSTREAM and was not part of any school of artists."

which go against the mainstream

Explanation:
with mainstream I think you are ok but I would use the verb "go" instead of " can be"

I would go for something like this if the art object is the subject rather than a person.
