I need to translate the locution "anteprima nazionale" in relation to the journalim sector. Here some sample phrases:
* La notizia sulla caduta del governo è stata pubblicata in anteprima nazionale dal Corriere di Vattelapesca.
* Il giornalista che ha rivelato la notizia in anteprima nazionale è Marco Marchi.
Any idea? Thanks! |

1 hr confidence: The first ... to publish was ...
Explanation: Although "anteprima" is a term abused by the Italian media, it's purpose is to emphasize the role of the first newspaper/journalist who breaks the news to the public. In english-speaking countries you may often hear that "news regarding ... was first announced by/published by/appeared on ...", so I would suggest turning the phrase around a little.
Example sentence(s):- In Italy the news was first published by ...

Explanation: Though in the contexts you have provided I don't see the "Italian" as necessary.

National means Italian here - and if you are translating for a non Italian audience (as translations usually are) then you would have to specify the "nationality" of the news.

Asker: Do you mean "national"? I wrote this because the news has been published not for the first time *internationally*, but just in his nation. It is like when the broadcasts say "film trasmesso in prima TV italiana".
Asker: thank you all. Now i understand what you meant, but i m still not able to contextualize it. For example:
"Nel 1999 Marco Marchi ha pubblicato in anteprima nazionale la notizia dell'arresto"
"In 1999 Marco Marchi published as Italian breaking news (?)..."
Thanks for your useful help.
