Explanation:
Mesne profits is the label used for payment for unlawful squatting, so as not to be elevated to the status of rent, whilst the Google definitions all - questionably - suggest they are for unlawful occupation.

Pre-contract completion - see below 'dovuta per il periodo precontrattuale' - the buyer can be let into occupation of land as a kind of tenant. The payment, if actually made and not a drawn-out rent-free scam as has happened in the UK, used to be termed 'mesne profits', but is now called interest in the E&W Law Society's Standard Conditions of Sale of Land.
