Passengers (i assume they might be called that) are advised to keep at a distance of at least 50 meters from the ship and the "ormeggi" (I don't know).

Explanation:
Quando la nave è in porto NON è in rada. In porto la nave accosta alla banchina di lato (magari aiutata dai rimorchiatori) e poi dopo aver gettato i cavi d'ormeggio (canapa o nylon)a terra li ala (linguaggio marinaresco = tira)con gli argani di prora e di poppa, in modo da portare il fianco della nave contro la banchina. Appositi parabordi impediscono di fare strisciare la fiancata contro la banchina.
Quindi le ancore non si usano; esse (una o due) vengono usate dalle navi militari quando ormeggiano di poppa, ossia gettano l'ancora a prora, a velocità moderata si avvicinano alla banchina e con un colpo in avanti delle eliche, si fermano a 5-10 m. Alano i cavi (gettati a terra e fissati alle bitte)e portano la poppa a 5-6 m dalla banchina, in modo che con una passerella si possa scendere/salire.
Credo dopo 15 anni in Marina Militare di sapere "qualcosa" sugli ormeggi.
