is this "marc"? or "hominy feed" (whatever that is?

Apple pomace
Explanation:
See this link and many others under keyword "apple pomace" :

"What to do with the waste of 1.5 million bushels of juice apples? Traditionally, ***apple pomace*** (the waste from pressing juice apples) has been land-filled or is fed to beef and dairy cows both lactating and dry, and to growing and finishing beef animals.

Last summer a small trial at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in Truro was carried out to determine the effectiveness of feeding growing steers a pomace-based diet. Three diets were fed, consisting of apple supplement (mixed at 86.2% pomace and 13.8% soybean meal) at 0%, 30% and 60% DM basis of a basal silage diet. Thirty-six Hereford steers averaging 306 ± 53 kg were fed up to ninety-nine days including a 10-day adjustment period.

***Apple pomace*** has a nutrient analysis of 20% DM, 68-72% TDN, 5-6% CP and an ADF of 25-30%. Energy and fibre values are somewhat dependent upon the inclusion of rice hulls as an aid in the pressing process. Silage values in this trial were 29% DM, 52% TDN, 14% CP and 40% ADF - nothing to write home about. These silage values with an average pH of 4.8 are indicative of a poorly preserved, likely heat-damaged, feed with a corresponding poor digestibility..."
