Italian to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Materials (Plastics, Ceramics, etc.) / closures for bottles | | Italian term or phrase: master | I have currently translated this as "masterbatch". Can anyone confirm or does anyone know exactly what they are referring to? It is a raw material for the production of closures for bottles:
"Il presente documento si applica alle forniture di materie prime - (mastice ,granulato) ***master***, additivi - destinate all’utilizzo nella filiera produttiva della X [company]."

Hmm, it`s tempting to assume that Italian master is English masterbatch, and it may be right, but when doing a Google search for masterbatch master mastice granulato additivi plastiche I can`t actually find any evidence that the Italians use master for masterbatch, and plenty of examples of them using `masterbatch`. I wouldn`t put it past them to lazily say master, but your text looks formal, not the obvious place for casual language.
As for the meaning of masterbatch in English, `Masterbatches are pelletised colorants, comprised of high concentrations of pigments and/or dyes that have been pre-dispersed in a polymer vehicle.` (Found by going to Google and typing define:masterbatch)
I`m afraid this doesn`t help with how to translate master.
