I'm a bit stuck on this term. Apparently the company I'm translating for is:
"Specializzata non solo nella produzione del torello con battuta a gradino, ma anche nella realizzazione di decori e nella lavorazione di pezzi speciali quali listelli, strutture, mosaici ed al taglio dei fondi ceramici, [name of company] gestisce anche lavorazioni ricavate da grandi formati"
I have translated "torello" as bullnose, and understand that it refers to the curved edge of a tile but I have no idea about "battuta a gradino". Maybe "stepped" for "a gradino" I'm thinking.
Any ideas? |

I took a look at the picture of your product, and found this term.
In fact it is a stair tread tile with the bullnose incorporated.
P.S. Not that this has to do with the term you need, but since different companies make tiles and the special tile pieces, they usually don't match perfectly. We were advised to have our porcelain tiles (very hard tiles) ground by a marble mason to make bullnosed pieces for the stairs and are very happy with the result.

P.S. I wouldn't use "stepped" to refer to stair tread pieces, as it sounds instead like the piece has a zig-zag shape.

In other words, in English it is a stair tread tile with a bullose, rather than a bullnose with a stair tread. |
