I can't find my references now, but I'm sure I've seen bicavale translated this way.

neutral xxxElena Sgarbo: "Double vessel" means "two vessels", while "bicaval" means "two cava vessels", i.e., the superior and the inferior vena cava

  -> Thanks for that - it makes sense. The only problem is that I can't find "bicaval" in e.g. Stedmans or the OED, which has plenty of medical terminology.
