On the same side; affecting the same side of the body; the opposite of contralateral. For example, when the right patellar tendon is tapped, an ipsilateral knee-jerk is observed on the same side. In paralysis, this term is used to describe findings appearing on same side of the body as the brain or spinal cord lesion producing them. SYN: homolateral.
