Italian term or phrase: sofferenza ipossico ischemica
"La diagnosi strumentale di sofferenza ipossico ischemica".

Would "sofferenza" be translated as "damage" here?
The translation I'm considering is "hypoxic-ischemic damage", but I'd really appreciate some confirmation of this.
Thanks :-)

hypoxic-ischemic injury

Explanation:
Both 'damage' and 'injury' seem to be used, but I find about five times more Google hits for 'hypoxic-ischemic injury'.

Example sentence(s):
  • "Neurobiology of hypoxic-ischemic injury in the developing brain. "
  • "Hypoxic-ischemic injury (HII) causes swelling in the brain that restricts the flow of blood-borne oxygen, glucose, and other nutrients. ..."
