Salam alaikum Hebat. If you take the meaning "grafted" for "innesto", does it seem clearer? - one condition "grafted" onto another.

agree Joseph Tein: I like 'superimposed' - it fits the context. And I think that we can do away with 'disturbance' in the translation. It really doesn't add anything essential to 'chronic schizophrenia'
