Though "cortisone" is a term more commonly used than "cortisonic", the translation of "cortisone" in English would be, also, "cortisone" in Italian. According to my research for this question, "cortisonics" refers to a wider range of drugs. "Cortisonics" include cortisone, hydrocortisone, prednisone, glucocorticoids, etc.

In response to SJLD's comment below as well as Mihaela's earlier comment, I understand your hesitation to use the word "cortisonic", and perhaps you and Mihaela are correct. I will not say that you are wrong. I know that "cortisone" sounds much better, but my understanding of "cortisonici" is that it includes not only cortisone, but other related drugs as well. Perhaps when one says "cortisone therapy" in English, it can be understood to mean other related drugs in addition to cortisone. However, I wasn't sure about that, so I thought it would be safer to stick closer to the original Italian and say "cortisonic therapy". There are, after all, hundreds of examples of the term "cortisonic therapy" that come up in an internet search, so it is not an unacceptable term, though I agree with you that it doesn't sound the greatest and perhaps there is a better term. I didn't use "cortisone" for the reasons explained above. The term "corticosteroid" crossed my mind, but I wasn't sure about using that either because I thought that the term, "corticosteroids", may include some drugs that are not included under "cortisonici". Anyway, I think that the term “cortisonic”, especially in the adjectival form as used here in “cortisonic therapy”, is not so bad.

Asker: Ti ringrazio moltissimo per l'addendum. Alla fine, però, penso di optare per "cortisone" perchè ho fatto visionare il tutto da un madrelingua inglese e mi ha detto ke va bene così. Cmq sei stata gentilissima. Se avrai bisogno di un mio aiuto in futuro sarò lieta di dartelo.
