Italian to English translations [PRO] Military / Defense / WW1 | | Italian term or phrase: collegamento | = ruolo di un soldato
does anyone know the correct military (WW1) term for this please.
context: in the war zone- a soldier lies in a ditch to avoid the front line and realizes that whispering "Collegamento" to anyone who passes ensures he will be left alone.
Thanks in advance |

A "Liason Officer" had the responsibility of maintaining communications between two different armies or regiments, sometimes in two different languages. Obviously if the cowardly shepherd were to murmur "liaison" and point to himself, he might be able to hide from the bullets and ensure his comrades got killed rather than himself. |
