Italian to English translations [PRO]
Mining & Minerals / Gems
Italian term or phrase: cereo
L'onice è caratterizzata da una lucentezza liscia e cerea con bande curve di colore bruno e bianco o nero e bianco.

How should I best translate cereo in this context? Can only think of 'dull' (as in 'dull brilliance' ) but I'm not sure this is entirely appropriate...

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks Marika, Yes, I did think of waxen but I'm not sure we would refer to a black onyx as being waxen or pale in English.

I would use "shine" rather than "brilliance", I think.
