Non riesco a trovare una soluzione soddisfacente per strumenti a manico (handle tools ??) e soprattutto ferri. |

Explanation: This problem intrigues me and I have been looking into it for quite a while this afternoon. I think "strumenti a manico" are tools with handles, and "ferri" are every other kind of tool. Of course we are talking about hand tools here, implied by "lavorazioni manuali." However, everywhere I have looked into carving with hand tools, there is no indication that dividing tools into those with handles or no handles is of any importance at all. There are people who carve their own handles for chisels and blades, but still, that doesn't seem to merit the distinction the text is making here. So, I don't know how helpful this is, but maybe sharing my partial work could help someone else reach the answer...
