Nelle lavorazioni manuali si distinguono gli strumenti a manico e i cosidetti ferri. Nella prima categoria rientrano sia i percussori con cui si battono i ferri sia quegli utensili che sagomati in varia forma agiscono direttamente sulle pietre.

I have problems translating "percussori con cui si battono i ferri". We are talking about marble working. In another Kudoz I asked how to translate strumenti a manico and ferri and the best solution was: tools with handles and other hand-operated tools. Of course in this sentence it is not possible to translate ferri with other-hand devices and I have no idea about percussore. I found "striker" but as far as I understood it's a sport-related term. I found no links with marble.

A hammer is what you call the part of a revolver that strikes the firing pin, or has the pin itegral. Here it is the tool that sculptors use to hit the chisel(s) "i ferri", which have different shapes and sizes depending on what is needed, and how much material one has to remove, etc.

Heres another suggestion. weld the nut to the angle iron, ... Just keep the firing pin and firing pin channel clean and you'll have nothing to worry about. ...
