Italian to English translations [PRO] Mining & Minerals / Gems / Jewellery | | Italian term or phrase: perle a elica | Can anybody tell me what we call this kind of pearl in English? Below is a link with an image of pearls of this kind. I was wondering about "spiral pearls", but it's just a guess.
I'm afraid the context is not much help as it just says "collana valorizzata con perle a elica"

| | twist/twisted beads | Explanation: Well, as it turns out, I checked the web pages you provided and it turns out that these aren't actually pearls at all, they are GLASS beads (although Simon, I just ADORE your swirl pearl, and would like to order several immediately!) ;)
It's confusing because Italian doesn't really have a word for "bead", they just use the word perla and a material (so you get "perle di vetro, di legno, di ceramica etc etc).
So, a few minutes in the glass bead world revealed the following pages (and many, many others!)... (as you can see, twist glass beads and twisted glass beads are much the same (sometimes the same site will use both terms for the same bead!), although for the sake of utter clarity I would go for the twist beads as twisted beads seem slightly more used to indicate strings of twisted beads...)
