luskie: 18:14 Jun 23, 2005: a tricky one! seen a million, never known what to call them! maybe you should search something with 'inclinazione'... hth - Rachel Fell (asker): 19:31 Jun 23, 2005: Thanks luskie - me too, just didn't know the name nor does my young son! Have found they seem to be called flipz, flipz cards or action flipz - lenticular images/lenticular image cards is the less colloquial term Rachel Fell (asker): 19:14 Jun 25, 2005: 3D cards - http://www.world3d.com/faqs.html http://www.world3d.com/gallery.html
Thanks for all your suggestions: I have decided to use "3D cards", as it's for a children's marketing "gift", although technically it may not strictly be 3D but just lenticular. The site above gives helpful info. on the subject and has a nice gallery - the effect I meant is the one of the dinosaur in the gallery. Flipz may be a trade mark, not sure, but doesn't seem to be a generic word. There's a difference between holographic and lenticular effects; I think holographic cards are only "shinies" if they have shiny effects as well as a hologram - a.k.a. "foil cards".
Too much info.?! luskie: 08:46 Jun 26, 2005: ehr... I suggested the above because I thought you needed the IT... never heard of a ciac-card in IT! (anyway, now you have it! ciao :o) - Rachel Fell (asker): 12:41 Jun 26, 2005: Oh well, that's the name I was given - now I know what to call them in English, too!

holographic cards (shinies)
Explanation: Just did a quick google search and it seems that the more common term (500+ hits)is holographic cards (more commonly referred to as "shinies" by children themselves, apparently).
