From transcription. Does "e che" mean "so what?" like "y que" in Spanish, or "what the hell?", or something else? It's important as the whole phrase (a longer phrase) hinges on it.

I Think the first part of your text should be written as "e loro VENGONO a romperci le palle" (I think it's a typo).
As for "e che?", I would translate it as "What the heck".
Sometimes in Italian you can find "e che?" expressed also in other ways, like "e che cavolo/e che caspita/e che madonna!" and other more or less vulgar variations, but the meaning is basically "what the heck/what the hell".
