daring ?

Explanation:
rcambolesco means daring but I am not at all sure about it in this context as even the English text is difficult to fathom: things like "victory contained" ...?

agree  Rick Henry: not only that, they're using it as a noun... and Colored?!? Using THAT word in English would be daring.

extraordinary

Explanation:
The Italian word is rocambolesco which means bold or daring and also extraordinary in the sense of an extraordinary feat, which seems to me to apply in this case, although I agree that the English is approxiamtive to say the least.
