Italian term or phrase: provvedere direttamente
Se la luce di un’area sembra insufficiente, provvedere direttamente ad aumentarla avvisando il supervisore.

I think that is the right translation: if the sentence meant \"advise the supervisor so that the light be increased\" the Italian would have been different. Probably they added \"direttamente\" to suggerst that the person himself shoudl increase it
