beat Explanation: I think that sley would refer more to the part of the loom, not the action involved in weaving, where each "stroke" is called a beat. "beating up" is given as "battuta della trama" I personally have always used beat in this context. HOEPLI TECHNICAL DICTIONARY13TH ED. |
