Italian term or phrase: biennio
In an engineering degree certifications for engineering, the term "biennio di studii" appears.

Any recommendations for biennio in the context of university studies?

Thanks,

Harold

English translation:first two years
Explanation:
Note: the 'biennio' is not the whole course of studies, just the first 2 years (out of 5).

It contains mostly the same set of exams for all studends, which later specialize in the following final 3 years.

It is more 'the first two years in the course of study' than 'a two-year course'
