Product metering is achieved by filling the flights of the metering screw to their maximum capacity with uniformly dense product. Particles are made mobile at the rear of the trough by both the agitator and the metering screw as they begin to convey the product forward. Due to the larger size and the wire configuration of the agitator screw, it carries greater capacity of material than the metering screw and allows material to flow through and around it.
