In particular, the Italian Antitrust Authority, considering the serious nature of offences committed by the two companies and its duration, inflicted a fine of Euro 50 million on five Philip Morris group companies which were parties to the agreements and of Euro 20 million on Ente Tabacchi Italiani S.p.A.. Ente Nazionale Tabacchi was formed when the former Amministrazione Autonoma dei Monopoli di Stato became, pursuant to Legislative Decree No. 283 (July 9, 1998) a joint stock company entirely owned by the Italian Ministry of economic and finance.
