La mia impressione è che "thermic" sia usato prevalentemente da autori non madrelingua (anche se l'Oxford Concise riporta tutte e due le forme dell'aggettivo). Per quel che vale, google da quasi 160.000 hits per "thermal desorption" e un centinaio per "thermic desorption"
