There are several "official" translations: Explanation: "To live like brutish beasts, but made to find And follow virtue, and knowledge to be won." This is by Dorothy Sayers, who is reputed to be one of the best (and one of my favorite mystery writers too). The second site I referenced gives you another alternative.
