Italian term or phrase:ora d'aria
I have no idea how to render this. Here is a little more context:
Nell’ora d’aria tuffo nel sentore del che cosa si dice,
niente mi affermo, sogno i trifidi
Explanation: The "ora d'aria" is the mandated time inmates have outside their cells. You could call it "recreation time/recreation hour", but unlike these English terms, I think "ora d'aria" does not leave any room for ambiguity.
Of course, in your text, the "out-of-cell time" might well be metaphorical.
Explanation: I have found this translation on www.alanisfans.it
Poem "Aria" by Daniele Silvestri.
"Ora d'aria" is also the title of a song by the Italian group Litfiba.
