neutral  writeaway: prevails over, afaik. sounds like a fight between the two. which one wins in the end. not sure it's what the Italian says
7 mins
-> prevails over time sounds better, thanks!

neutral  Alexandra Speirs: Or turn it around: "time does not always prevail over beauty". It depends whether you are going to go on and translate the rest of the poem.

-> Definitely another possibility, I also like Fiorsam's version!

not always does time erase beauty

Explanation:
Mi sembra che in questo caso una traduzione letterale renda meglio il ritmo della frase.

agree  Anna Strowe: I don't mind "not always". And I like the rest. The poem is about how his mother is an example of when beauty survives, so I think it's important to have the "not always" idea at the beginning.
