Italian term or phrase:documentazione sonora
Ancora una frase dal bando per un corso di perfezionamento vocale per cantanti d'opera. Contesto: "L’accesso al Corso avviene attraverso la partecipazione ad una selezione preliminare basata su documentazione sonora tramite invio di file audio e video o link (youtube) con autocertificazione di autenticità ai sensi della legge vigente." Non riesco a trovare una traduzione che renda il significato della frase. Certamente non "sound documentation" che può essere frainteso. Grazie di nuovo!

In the context of your translation, it would be "... a preliminary selection based on an audio document sent as an audio and video file or ...."
This would distinguish it from a written document, ie a score or composition.
I had previously suggested audio or sound recording, but that seemed redundant with the actual document requested "audio and video file," but it could still work.

Mi piace il suggerimento di Claudio. Come ha fatto notare Oliver, l'italiano tende ad essere ripetitivo e un po' arcaico in documenti di questo genere. Eliminando la ripetizione la frase viene alleggerita - preferibile in inglese. Ci dormirò sopra :)
magari una "performance recording" che sarebbe sostanzialmente simile all'uadition clip di Oliver, ma per documentazione vocale si pone lo stesso problema di traduzione. Non esiste una dicitira come "a recording of your voice" che non suonerebbe male in questo caso.
Come nota Oliver la frasatura del documento è gia un po' ripetitiva.
A Claudio e Oliver - Rileggendo le vostre risposte mi è venuta in mente la possibilità di "documentazione vocale". Vorrei la vostra onesta opinione.

Explanation: IMHO the word 'documentazione' means the evidence demonstrating the candidate's capabilities, more than just the fact that it is supplied as a kind of document, which is made slightly redundant by the subsequent references to the file types. 'Sonora' is also a bit superfluous, given the nature of the competition. My ha'penn'orth anyway.

alternatively 'vocal recording' (similar to Claudio's 'performance recording') sound good to me too, although for all I know the recording might be some kind of voice exercise rather than an actual performance piece, hence 'vocal' or 'audition' retains a greater level of generality
