Sorry, I read your discussion entry after I posted my suggestion.
If the stories in the book all comment on topical issues and current events, I'd definitely agree with your interpretation, and with the translation of 'movimenti' as 'moods'.
I'll gladly delete my answer if you decide to post yours.

if they were talking about sections of the book, its broad themes or something else. 'Movements' also evokes the different moods in an extended piece of classical music, which may or may not be appropriate given the subject matter (?).
