Well, the title was already translated as a book into English, not a very inspired title in English, for sure, but the book now is known as such in the English speaking world, so it really depends what purpose does your translation serve, whether is should be left as it is or worked on. Is it a private work, or for a publisher? etc. I was thinking of some possibilities, certainly not tied too close with the original: 1) The Princes at the foot of Muncibeddu - Muncibeddu=beautiful mountain in Sicilian for Mt Etna); 2)The Princes under the Mountain of Fire (the Arabic name for Etna, Gabal an-Nar); 3) The Sicily of the Princes under the volcano's shadow. Maybe none of these are appropriate, although I like them better than the Princes under the volcano, which sounds dull and wooden. Anyway, it depends what your project is, you may have to go with it as it is. Good luck. |
